Scholarship Program Mission Statement
California Balboa Classic commits to bridging barriers for dancers who have been disproportionately affected by racism, poverty, disability, displacement and/or discrimination. We will fulfill this commitment by providing monetary support, opportunities for community and networking, and additional guidance during the event as requested by scholarship recipients.

Name Your Own Price Option
If you feel that this scholarship program is not the right fit for you after reading our Mission Statement, please consider requesting a "name your own price" ticket.  There are a limited number of these tickets available.

Scholarship Selection Process
  • Section 1 helps us to determine both overall eligibility and which scholarship category to assign each applicant. We expect most applicants to be eligible; please read our above mission statement for clarification. We will do a lottery selection for the majority of applicants from each requested category of support. A limited number of applicants will be removed from the lottery and awarded a scholarship based on scholarship committee consensus.
  • Section 2 helps to improve future programming and has no bearing on selection process.

It is important that CalBal participation remains accessible to dancers that are unable to afford the overall costs of large events.  We are planning to leave some tickets temporarily available for purchase for individuals that are not awarded a scholarship.
