American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act-Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER III)
As a recap for our January 2022 feedback, the following is background information on ESSER funding. On March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act was signed into law.  The US Department of Education is providing an additional $121.9 million for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER III).  This legislation will award these grants to state educational agencies for the purpose of providing school districts with emergency relief funds to address the impact that COVID-19 has had, and continues to have, on elementary and secondary schools across the nation.

Rock Hill Schools is eligible to receive $34.8 million to address needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The district is seeking public input on the spending of the ARP-ESSER III allocation.  A minimum of 20 percent of the allocation must be spent on activities to address learning loss.  Funds cannot be used for employee bonuses.
