Movement Lab with Coco Villa: Info + Registration

About DIDIDADA ~ DIDIDADA is a movement workshop created by Coco Villa. It is a guided improvisation practice and a celebration of nonsensical play. DIDIDADA prioritizes accessibility and silliness to give your mind, body, and spirit a sparkly mega boost through a variety of multidisciplinary exercises. It is about release, getting back into our bodies, and simply dancing for the joy of moving through hyper warm ups, routines, and prompts. Some call it a brain break. Some call it a waking up game. Some call it a dance class. There is no choreography or right way, just a fun way. This workshop is open to all skill levels, ages 5 and up.

About How To Turn Poison Into A Meal (HTTPIAM) ~ How To Turn Poison Into A Meal is a three-part movement class conducted in follow-along style and guided improvisation. Instruction is inspired by Caribbean dance styles, dance fitness, somatic movement practices, and self proclaimed rituals. HTTPIAM was created as a response to grief; release and surrender in the form of a physical confession, a cleansing conducted through the therapy of repetition.

Part one focuses on repetition to generate heat in the body. Part two explores movement expression through pattern, pace, and shape. Part three is an invitation to use the space freely. Activities are high intensity. While demanding in physical and mental stamina, participants are encouraged to challenge themselves and move at their own pace.

Note: Some exercises may include partner work and physical contact with other participants.
