To help us understand what devices students will be bringing next year for our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program and what types of support families may need to make that decision, we're asking all families with students entering grade 10 to please complete this short form as soon as possible whether or not you have reached a decision on which device your student will bring.
When making your plans please be assured that a $200 Chromebook is a perfectly good choice and is what our middle and high school students have been using for several years. Please also be aware that there are a lot of very inexpensive netbooks and Android tablets that may be fine for entertainment but don’t deliver the same value as learning tools that Chromebooks, iPads, and laptops do. To help you avoid disappointment we suggest that families wanting to minimize the expense go with a Chromebook. Please visit our BYOD Device Requirements page at
http://westboroughk12.org/UserFiles/Servers/Server_35277/File/Tech/CriteriaforWHSBYODstudentdevices.pdf for more information.
You are of course free to get the device in the way that best meets your family's needs and if you're looking for reference packages and/or purchasing options we're pleased to be partnering with the Westborough Education Technology Fund to bring you the Westborough 1 to 1 Store at
http://westboroughetf.org/1to1. Please feel free to browse with no obligation to purchase there.
