10-21 & 10-22-22: Conference on FASD and Trauma Responsive Strategies with presenter Barb Clark
~Hosted by Judson Center Programs: PARC, MARE, and Foster Care Navigators~

Day 1: October 21st 6pm—9pm
Topic: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders from a Trauma Lens.
Although fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) are twice as common as autism, this disorder often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Professionals and parents will learn the reasons behind children's learning and behavioral challenges and trauma informed caregiving strategies that focus on relationship, connection, and reducing the child's anxiety.

Day 2: October 22st 9am—12pm
Topic: Trauma-Responsive Strategies
Children and adolescents who have experienced trauma have unique brain wiring and are often at a mixture of developmental ages. Participants will learn new approaches to use with children and adolescents who have trauma histories which will help you to understand them better and improve communication and relationships. The strategies we will cover are recommended for in-utero trauma such as FASD and also for trauma they may have experienced after birth.

Presenter: Barb Clark works at the North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC) as a Training Specialist. She is a parent to children through adoption. Barb graduated from the University of Minnesota. Barb encourages parents and professionals to think outside of the box when training on a variety of topics including trauma-responsive strategies, post placement/adoption support, and her personal passion,
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.
