Thank you for your interest in EFAO's Farmer-to-Farmer Seed Mentorship Program.
Meaningful training for farmers on how to grow high quality, diverse seed is vital to a resilient and sustainable seed sector. Through this peer learning program, we hope to offer hands-on, personalized, and timely training to farmers who want to increase the quality, quantity, and/or diversity of seed they grow on-farm.
How the Mentorship works:
- Mentors and Mentees will participate in 10-30 hours of mentorship over the course of the 2023 season with the option of extending the season into winter 2024 based on conversations with mentees.
- Mentors will be financially compensated for their time with a $750 stipend for your 10-30 hours.
- Mentors or mentees will also be compensated for mileage ($0.61/km) for one trip to the other's seed growing space.
- The EFAO is available to support Mentors and Mentees throughout this process.
- The content that you cover is for the Mentor and Mentee to decide.
Correspondence with Mentees can be by phone, email, video, or in person when possible, depending on your mutual preferences. We'll use the information in your application form to assess your application and match you with a suitable Mentee, and will connect with you about the match beforehand to see if you also find it suitable before it is finalized.
