2024-2025 BrandywineBOTS VRC Application
Thank you for your interest in joining BrandywineBOTS for the 2024-2025 VRC robotics season.  Please complete this application fully.

Please note that the capacity of the program is dependent upon the number of parents/guardians who sign up and commit to serving as a parent mentor on their child's team.  Two parent mentors are required for every 4-student engineering team.  Based on that, the following is the acceptance order of applications - and the order in which invitations to join the program will be sent:

1. Returning BrandywineBOTS students and siblings
2. New student applications who have a parent commitment as their child's team mentor.
3. New student applications with a team pairing request to a student who has a parent commitment as a team mentor.
4. All other new student applications, in the order the applications are received until capacity is reached.

Does this student have a parent/guardian who will commit to acting as their team's parent mentor this season? *
Parent mentors are required for the operation of our program.  For each 4-person student engineering team, we require at least two parent mentors to supervise the team.  Students with a parent who volunteers to act as their teams mentor are given priority in the acceptance process.

Don't worry - no engineering or robotics experience is required at all.  The primary role is to assist the students with remaining on task and helping to guide them to find resources they need to figure out problems on their own.  The coaches will provide ALL of the training necessary to feel comfortable as a team mentor!  All you need to commit to is showing up with your student - we will make sure you are prepared for the rest!
Financial Scholarship Need *
Do you have a financial hardship that will require applying for financial assistance through the BrandywineBOTS scholarship program?  If you answer 'Yes' to this questions you will receive a separate email with information and instructions on how to be considered for a scholarship.

(The BrandywineBOTS scholarship is supported primarily by current and former BrandywineBOTS families to ensure that no child is prevented from participating due to a financial concern.  The scholarship does come with an increased volunteer participation requirement.)
Do you have a meeting night preference? *
Each team will have an assigned meeting night they are expected to attend - either Tuesday or Wednesday night this year.  Teams will be evenly divided between the two nights.  If you do not have a preference, please choose that option - chances of acceptance are greater for those who do not have a preference due to capacity restrictions.

We use this information to help form teams that will be the most compatible together whenever possible.
