In the past year we witnessed numerous powerful progressive wins in historically red districts from Kentucky to Virginia, in large part because of deep and long-term community organizing connected to electoral campaigns. There is tremendous possibility to influence change when we organize to harness the power of our communities to win electoral power and build self-governance. How do we leverage this political moment to build power for our community organizing so that our wins aren’t just a flash in the pan, but serve long-term transformation and power-building? Join us for a 9-month leadership hub for electoral organizers working on local and state-wide campaigns.
This 9-month training cohort and coaching program will create long-term leadership infrastructure that builds power within disenfranchised communities, to put grassroots folks in top positions and hold our public officials accountable. Each month we will offer a training focused on crucial skills. Cohort members will receive deep support from the facilitators as they grapple with organizing in their communities and train leaders in what they are learning. Coaching will be offered monthly to deepen support for your leadership and growth. Meeting in a cross-state cohort will help us establish trust between groups working in different states, so that we can learn from different strategies and support each other.
Through this cohort you will build your skills and capacity to grow a strong and engaged volunteer base in your state, increasing voter turnout to 75%. Most importantly, this will continue to build strength and issue-based empowerment for rural, low-income and marginalized people through 2022 and beyond. We have experienced that success depends upon gathering committed, issue-focused groups to participate within the targeted states and organizing the volunteers and trainers to incorporate long-term voter registration and GOTV efforts into their program. This will build long-term sustainable community power beyond a single election.
You will experience training and coaching on:
- Vision and goals: a long-term vision, a one-year vision and achievable one-year goals
- Messaging: connecting to issues people care about and are already working on
