Pledge of Commitment
In an effort to strengthen nursing's impact on humanity, we revisited the tenets of the Nightingale Pledge  which was founded in 1893: To abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous;  to not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug; and to be devoted towards the welfare of those committed to my care.  We recognize the work nurses have contributed to the growth of the profession prior to the Civil Rights Movement, and we ask that you help us with our goal to amend the Nursing Pledge to reflect the care delivered to all racial groups by committing to the Nursing with intention pledge.

I am a nurse. My lived experiences are not universal. I intentionally seek to understand each person beyond my professional training and personal beliefs. I am devoted to  promoting health equity for humanity, starting with the dismantling of racism in my profession. *
