CHCC Admissions Policy
It is the policy of Cold Hollow Career Center that students will not be denied access to technical education program or services on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, handicapping condition and/or disability, in compliance with state and federal laws. Reasonable individual and programmatic accommodations shall be provided to those students based on the result of IEP/504 team meetings held prior to application and acceptance into a technical program. In general, the Pre-Tech Foundations Program is open and available to all students who are in good standing as incoming sophomores at their home high schools. There is no priority process for entry into this program.
Application to CHCC programs is available and open to all students who will be entering their junior year for the first year of CHCC programs, and will be entering their senior year for the second year of a CHCC program.
Note: It is possible for sophomores to enroll in CHCC. Please contact the Guidance Coordinator for further information.
If a program at CHCC is over-enrolled, then the Admissions Process will be used to determine acceptance into the program. This process is designed to conform to the criteria laid out in the first paragraph of this policy.
The Director of CHCC has the final decision of acceptance should there be any discrepancies as a result of unforeseen factors.First Year Student Admissions
Admission into CHCC, is based on the following:
*Completed applications turned in by the deadline.
*Students who want to enroll in CHCC should have successfully completed all requirements of their ninth and tenth grade year. Note: a student may be denied admission if a reasonable path to high school graduation is not evident.
*Students must be enrolled in one of our sending schools. Home school and independent school students should apply for placement by contacting both home school and CHCC guidance offices.
*Any Vermont resident who has obtained a high school diploma may apply to CHCC as an adult student on a space-available basis by contacting CHCC’s Guidance Coordinator.
Every effort will be made to enroll all applicants who meet the placement requirements of the desired program. The following factors are considerations taken by CHCC administration and faculty to determine acceptance into our programs;
*Expressed interest of the student
*Experience in Pre-tech program (if applicable)
*Successful completion of program prerequisites
*Recommendation by Guidance Counselor, or other school personnel as well as other references
*Achievement, academic, attendance and disciplinary history
*Selection of a non-traditional program
