WESTFEST: ALL OVER WESTBETH 2024 APPLICATION
WestFest: All Over Westbeth is a site-specific program showing a variety of unconventional and unique approaches to dance and space within the Westbeth Artists' Residence buildings.

THE PROCESS & TIMELINE:
Each artist will be assigned a unique space in and around the Westbeth building in which they will have the opportunity to rehearse and build a dance. We ask that artists create a 4-5 minute piece that can be performed multiple times for groups of audiences touring the sites.

On the days of the show, groups of audience members will be guided from site to site to see the dances all over the building. Past sites have included: Westbeth’s inner and outer courtyards, long hallways, spiral staircases, the gallery space, boiler room, and the rooftop.

  1. Kickoff Meeting and Rehearsal #1: Saturday, February 10, 1-4 PM

  2. Rehearsal #2: Saturday, March 9, 1-4 PM

  3. Rehearsal #3: Saturday, April 6, 1-4 PM

  4. Tech Rehearsal: Saturday, April 20, 1-6 PM

  5. Performance: April 27 & 28, 1-4 PM

Submission form now closes on January 3rd, 2024 at 11:59PM ET. Applicants will be notified of acceptance via email no later than January 25th, 2024.

Description of Approach: If selected, you will be asked to create a new site-specific work based on an assigned location at Westbeth Artists' Housing. Please write a brief artist statement describing how you would approach this process.

Work sample must be no more than 3 minutes in length, and must be an example of a finished work (no rehearsal videos please). Previous site-specific work is a bonus, but not necessary.
