Instructions To The Monitor/Evaluator

The candidate shall be given a self-contained breathing apparatus.
The candidate shall be given a restricted passage.
The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise.

Instructions To The Candidate

The candidate, while wearing personal protective equipment and a self-contained breathing apparatus, shall demonstrate emergency procedures for escaping through a restricted passage with 100% accuracy.

8 Steps *

1) Wears full PPE

2) Never removes the face piece or allows face piece seal to be broken

3) Initiates emergency radio traffic

4) Makes initial attempt to escape

5) Changes body position by rotating 45 degrees and makes 2nd attempt

6) Partially removes the SCBA by loosening straps and rotating the SCBA unit under the arm along the rib cage

7) Performs an escape by removing the harness assembly and holding the SCBA unit in front of him/her while maintaining contact with SCBA.

8) Dons the harness as soon as he/she is through the restricted passage.
