March-June Extended Day Planning 2020-2021

The District wants to provide parents an opportunity to share ideas and considerations as the District plans for an extended school day this spring.

Current plans to extend the school day are as follows:

Carleton Washburne School (grades 7 & 8)
-Within the window of March 8 - April 5, AM/PM pods will merge and students will be on campus for at least a 4-hour day utilizing larger spaces (such as gyms, cafeteria, etc.) to achieve 6 feet of social distancing.
-Implementation date will be confirmed by mid-February.
-Families will have another opportunity to choose on-site or remote learning once schedules are available the week of February 15.

Crow Island, Greeley, Hubbard Woods, & Skokie Schools (grades K-6)
-Once staff have access to the Covid-19 vaccine AND health guidance supports social distancing less than 6 feet, AM/PM pods will merge and students will be on campus for at least a 4-hour day with at least 4 1/2 feet of social distancing.
-Implementation criteria and date will be discussed by mid-February; if criteria are met, implementation will occur in April.
-Families will have another opportunity to choose on-site or remote learning once schedules are available in early March.

The District is committed to creatively planning in the midst of an evolving landscape, and will continue to follow guidance from CCDPH, ILDPH, ISBE and Governor’s office. Keeping this in mind, we appreciate any input and ideas you would like considered as we move forward with the extended day planning process.
