1. This is a competitive process, please do your best to make the case of why the nominee deserves this award.
   
   
2. Do not only copy and paste the nominee resume without additional context. Having a job does not automatically qualify the nominee for the award, they must distinguish themselves in their work and that must be explained in the application. 
   
   
3. Due to the high number of applicants, the Cal State East Bay Alumni Association's reviewing committee will not reach out for clarification on applications received.
   
   
4.  Nominees will only be informed of their nomination upon selection as a 40 Under 40 candidate.
   
   
5. Nominations are accepted on a rolling basis; however, the deadline for nominations to be considered for the 2024 Pioneers of Distinction Awards Ceremony is July 31, 2024. Applications will be reviewed in August, and selected candidates will be notified of their selection in September. Candidates who accept their nomination will be invited to the award ceremony on Saturday, October 26, 2024 during Alumni Homecoming Weekend.
   

Nominee Qualifications:

• Must have completed a degree or credential program at Cal State East Bay/Hayward by the time of nomination

• Must be age 40 or younger between the last application closing date of March 8, 2023 and the deadline of the current application of July 31, 2024

• Must demonstrate dedication, excellence, and development in their professional, philanthropic and personal endeavors

• Must be willing to spend a portion of their time, talent, or treasure at Cal State East Bay in 2024-2025 through volunteerism
