The new
Community Food Pantry in Rutherford Library needs your help to keep the shelves full!
We are looking for units, departments, student groups, and other collections of people on campus who are willing to adopt the pantry for one week. Adopting the pantry means committing to collectively purchase and drop off food throughout the week by sharing the work within your group and broader networks.
ADOPT-A-WEEK DETAILS
- We will assign you a week of the year as we receive sign-ups. Please collect information about which weeks won't work for your group before completing this form.
- Once confirmed, your group contact will receive a package with guidance on shopping for the pantry and with materials to share/circulate to your group about the experience.
- We will send you reminders when your week is upcoming.
- During the week you have adopted, ensure someone from your group is dropping off some food to the pantry several times and reporting on donations using our log (accessed via QR code in the pantry).
- We encourage you to tap into your networks off campus. There are many ways to fill the pantry without spending a lot at the grocery store: run a community food drive, approach businesses you know, ask for donations at events, or crowdfund for the grocery bill. We estimate food costs of about $1500 per week to meet anticipated demand. This number may change once the pantry is in operation and we can observe real-time demand.
- Use your week as an educational opportunity for your team! We can come to do presentations and/or provide additional volunteering opportunities for your group.
