Thank you for your interest in the Peninsula Temple Sholom Madrichim Program! As a madrich (male)/madricha (female)/madrichim (gender neutral), you will have the unique opportunity to act as a role model to our younger students in our Youth Education program while refining your own leadership skills in the process.
Please complete this application by August 1st, 2023. Below is a summary of the madrichim (plural) positions to which you may apply:
Madrich/Madricha/MadrichimTeens entering 8th grade and up are eligible to work as madrichim in the classroom on Sunday mornings. Madrichim support the teacher in educating our students with engaging lesson plans and managing the classroom. Throughout the year, madrichim learn together in leadership training sessions to develop more teaching skills.
Senior MadrichimReturning madrichim who are entering 11th or 12th grade can apply to our Senior Madrichim program. Senior madrichim are expected to take on more responsibilities, including taking the lead on running stations, teaching lessons, or even running electives.
ExpectationsIn our commitment to partnership, we ask that our madrichim:
- Read the weekly faculty emails and come prepared for our program
- Arrive by 9:15 am on Sunday to help with classroom set-up
- Stay with your assigned class during the whole program until dismissal @ 11:30am on Sundays
- Inform Lauren Silva and any teacher(s) you work with ahead of time if you will be absent
- Act as a role model by dressing and acting appropriately
- Engage with the students, be fully present and refrain from using cell phones during our programs
- Attend and assist during Family Shabbats and Purim Carnival
- Attend Madrichim orientation and trainings

- 8th grade/1st year - volunteer year
- 9th grade/2nd year - $600 stipend.
Madrichim must attend at least 17 of 21 Sunday sessions to receive stipend- 10th grade/3rd year - $800 stipend.
Madrichim must attend at least 17 of 21 Sunday sessions to receive stipend- 11th grade/4th year - $17/hour
- 12th grade - $19/hour
