Hello, and welcome! The Digital Scholarship Studio and Network (DSSN) at the University of Buffalo (UB) is hosting "Crafting Data Visualization", a workshop focused on the physical forms of data visualization via crafts (knitting, crochet, pottery, Legos, etc). This is based on the work of Claudia Berger through her Embodied Data project.

This event is held in the hybrid format (both in-person and over Zoom). We want to make this event as accessible as possible. Thus, we want to hold a virtual crafting session for those who can't make the in-person crafting component of the workshop. This will be a chance to meet with crafters and talk about about data viz. No experience in either data viz or crafting required!

I make a mean bar graph, and know Tableau/Excel/R like the back of my hand

I knit/crochet. In fact, I made this whole outfit that I'm wearing

I quilt! I like making art that's also cozy

I do other fiber arts (felting, cross-stitch, thread painting, etc)!

I throw clay on the wheel, I've watched all of "The Great Pottery Throwdown", and I have thoughts on glazes
