Memorial Day Weekend National Lake Trout Derby Volunteer Sign Up
The Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association, the Finger Lakes Institute, and SUNY ESF researchers are teaming up with the Lake Trout Derby for the second year to collect specimen for a study to better understand the health of the fishery in Seneca Lake. The Lake Trout Derby will begin on Saturday, May 27th at 6:00am and end Monday, May 30th around 12:00pm.  Awards start at 3:00pm at Stivers Marina!

We need approximately 25 volunteers this year to help at weigh-in stations, and collect fish samples (stomach, flesh, scales). The weigh-in stations are at Clute Park in Watkins Glen and Stivers Marina in Geneva. We are asking for volunteers to serve four-hour shifts at one of the two weigh stations, but feel free to sign up for longer shifts or more than one day! Please specify which volunteer you would like to be with: The weigh station, or the research / dissection station.

The Finger Lakes Institute, SUNY ESF, Seneca Pure Waters, and the Lake Trout Derby Board thank you for your support in learning more about the health of our lake by volunteering for this effort!
