To celebrate National Kids to Parks Day, our goal is to host some outdoor play within a 10-minute walk of every kid in Roanoke during the weekend of May 16 and 17
This is a City-wide initiative and as part of that initiative, Roanoke Parks and Recreation is waiving the fees for park reservations for activities that meet the following guidelines:
The activity:
-Is free to participants
-Is open to the public (i.e.: any and every kid that shows up should feel welcome and invited to join)
-Inspires future outdoor play
-Is a quality activity (i.e.: facilitated in a friendly & professional manner)
Once you have submitted this application, the committee will review your activity and park request.
If approved:
You will then need to officially reserve the park and apply for any necessary permits. These steps will be outlined in your acceptance email and we will help if you have any questions.
If not approved:
We will give reasons for why the application wasn't approved and work with you to adjust your activity. You are welcome to apply as many times as you'd like.
Please note that you are fully responsible for your activity: equipment, tents, tables, staffing, permits, reservations, etc.. If you have questions or would like help putting together the details, please reach out to us! We'd be happy to connect you with options or people that could help!
