Event Details:

'Teaching Essential Number Sense: Stop teaching your children to count in 1s to calculate!'
Even though we teach number bonds to 10 in the Early Years, to enable our children to calculate fluently as they move through school, we STILL see so many of 7-11 year olds calculating by counting in 1's, using their fingers or ‘head bobbing’ along an imaginary number line

Host School: Parkfield Community School, Saltly, Birmingham

Date: Tuesday 3rd September Time: 9:00 am -1:00pm

Cost: Only £65 pp

Tickets: Tickets are strictly first come first served and in the event that the training is sold out when you book, you will be unable to attend. We will monitor the numbers constantly and do our best to avoid this happening and close the form when an event is sold out.

Your exclusive invitation to join me for this LIVE in Birmingham and experience the infamous EYMaths #wowbombs for yourself! I can't wait to meet you.

As a result of this 3-hour (event is 4 hours in total to include 2 half-hour refreshment and networking breaks) , information-packed session, you will come away:
  • Understanding why most of our children are still reaching later primary years (and moving into secondary and then adulthood) without 'Number Sense' and, as a result, are experiencing failure and life-long loss of confidence and love for this essential and empowering subject
  • Knowing the key areas and approaches that will change this and must become the basis of our approach to teaching all aspects of 'Number' in the Early Years as well as forming our 'rescue' plan for those beyond Early Years who are missing this crucial 'tools in their Mathematical toolboxes'
  • A clear understanding of what this looks like in practice, both through Karen's ongoing training with her EYMaths IMPACT and Team IMPACT members, as well as demonstrating how investment in ALL educator's understanding of what is meant by 'Number Sense' is, has on children's performance and progress in later years in areas such as calculation, learning multiplication tables, fractions and more (drawing upon Karen's many years as a teacher of 5-11 year olds, Maths subject leader senior leader and local authority adviser)

BONUS MATERIALS: Attendees will also receive a downloadable pack of supporting resources to enabling them to take immediate action back in class.

Audience: Who should attend? (IMPORTANT: This event is not just your Early Years staff)

  • Early Years Educators committed to revolutionising the way we teach 'Number Sense' so every child is given the every best start to their mathematical journey

  • Educators working with children ages 5 - 11 who wish to understand the reasons for common failures to embed number sense fluency and how to address this.

  • Educators working with children with learning disabilities seeking to make learning accessible, relevant and meaningful.
