PARTICIPATION CRITERIA:
The Pathfinder programming and instruction is designed for those with mild to moderate disabilities who are able to perform the activities and lessons with minimal prompting or assistance, manage their own self care,* and follow and comply with instructional demands and instructors' commands. Individuals with mental health conditions or behaviors that may make them disruptive, or cause unsafe conditions for themselves or others, are not eligible for the Pathfinder program. Beacons staff does not administer medications or have emergency response teams in place to address or support individuals with significant behavioral challenges.

*Individuals in need of assistance with self-care should contact Beacons to discuss whether there is room for the individual to attend with a self-provided personal care attendant.

Trainees with a history of physical aggression resulting in or risking physical injury to others, self-injurious behaviors, damage to property, elopement, smearing of feces, displays of inappropriate sexual behavior, defiance and/or behaviors that impede the learning of self or others, or other disruptive or maladaptive behaviors, are not eligible for the onsite Pathfinder program.

RATIOS:
Ratios will vary depending on the type of workshop and method of instruction. Workshop ratios will not exceed 10:3 (participants to instructors), although many may have smaller group ratios. IF THERE ARE NOT AT LEAST 5 INDIVIDUALS ENROLLED, Beacons reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the workshop.

COSTS:
1. Will San Diego Regional Center (SDRC) pay for these?
For eligible applicants aged 18+ who have exited their school districts, the San Diego Regional Center may pay up to 4 workshops this summer. To be eligible for funding for these workshops, the SDRC consumer typically must have exited their school district by aging out at age 22 or by graduation, and not be in another SDRC funded program (e.g. a Day Program) or option (e.g. Tailored Day) (unless an exemption or exception has been granted under WIC § 4648.55). Individuals using self-determination funding may use their funding for whatever activities are permitted under their IPP and spending plans. Please speak to your SDRC Service coordinator to determine if you are eligible for funding.

If you are eligible for funding, the SDRC will create a "purchase of service" (POS) and send that to Beacons to cover the costs of the workshop. The SDRC will need our vendor information to create the purchase of service. The Beacons vendor code is: PY1700, Code: 102, Subcode: Mini.

WHAT IF SOMEONE WANTS MORE THAN 4 WORKSHOPS?
The SDRC funds up to 4 workshops, but if a person wants to attend more than 4 workshops, they may pay through private funds or self-determination funding.

PRIVATE PAY
($25 deposit + $95 for a total of $120 per workshop)*
Individuals who are not eligible for SDRC funding or who have used up their 4 SDRC funded workshops and want to take more than 4 workshops may privately pay. The private pay rate is a subsidized rate intended for those who have no choice but to use private pay. Because the private pay rate is subsidized through Beacons fundraising, private pay should not be used instead of available SDRC or S-D funding. The $120 payment includes a $25 nonrefundable deposit to reserve the space.
*Some workshops (such as painting, crafts, etc.), may have an additional materials fee up to $20.

DEADLINE, CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS BY JUNE 19:
Our workshops typically have waitlists so please let us know if your plans have changed by 5 pm, June 19 by emailing Pathfinder@BeaconsNorthCounty.com with any changes or cancellations. Cancellations of workshops by June 9 that have been paid for with private funding will be refunded $95 ($120 minus the $25 deposit).

Workshops that do not have a minimum of 5 enrolled by June 19 may be cancelled or replaced with another workshop. In the event a workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, individuals who have privately paid for the workshop will receive a full refund of $120. Participants signed-up for canceled workshops will be given notice by June 19 if possible, and provided with an opportunity to sign up for other open workshops.
