2024 NYCBA Urban Beekeeping Apprenticeship

Thanks for your interest in the 2024 NYCBA Urban Beekeeping Apprenticeship! Please read these important notes below about our program:

The nature of the apprenticeship will require its apprentices to have flexibility in their schedules. While apprentices are not required to attend all meetings, they are encouraged to attend as many as possible. Year to year, there are on average 250+ hours of opportunity to work in beekeeping across the season! The actual timing of meetings can change—sometimes with short notice—due to weather, the changing needs of the bees, and traffic conditions in the City.

Regular meeting dates will occur on most Sunday mornings, but other opportunities will arise during regular weekdays, often starting very early in the morning. Apprentices may come and go to meetings as they are able. In the spring and summer, there are often beekeeping opportunities at least seven days in a row, so there are plenty of chances to get your hands sticky and maybe stung. The schedule for our meetings, therefore, is approximate and fluctuating at all times.

The program fee is $3,000. A limited number of applications will be accepted for this program, with a cap of ten people. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all spots are filled. If your application is accepted, you will be required to pay a deposit of $500 in order to accept your spot. The remaining balance of the program fee is due before you may participate in in-person apprenticeship activities.
