At MMO, we are currently interviewing and hiring an energetic, creative, and loving teacher to join our team. MMO strives to provide a Christian environment for young children while giving their families respite. MMO is a program grown out of Messiah Lutheran Church’s mission to Know Jesus, Serve Jesus, and Share Jesus.
Job Summary
The Messiah Morning Out (MMO) teacher at Messiah Lutheran Church plans and executes MMO and related work as required. She/he ensures that MMO provides a safe, inviting atmosphere for the teaching and care of program participants. The teacher schedule will be Tuesday and Thursday from 8:15AM- 12:45AM (with children present from 8:30AM-12:30PM)
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Provide instruction in the classroom. Supervise, ensure safety, and well-being of the children at all times. Be a team player. Adhere to the MMO handbook and procedures. Promote parental understanding of the growth and development of children. Participate in the development and assessment of annual goals and objectives for MMO. Engage with the children and families involved in MMO. Speak with the Lead Teacher regarding any needs or concerns in the classroom. Preparing and setting up activities. Implementing portions of the daily program as directed by the Lead Teacher. Assisting in keeping the classroom, storage areas, and bathrooms clean, neat, orderly, and sanitized. Help with keeping diapers changed. Attend staff meeting as scheduled. Attend training as scheduled.
Additional Responsibilities
Communicate with parents when they return to pick up children regarding any problems that occurred during the day. Help with tracking inventory supplies and equipment. Ensure MMO area and equipment are kept in good order and repair. Read and follow the Employee Handbook. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Classroom experience with young children. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Signed confidentiality agreement. Strong computer skills and experience. Pass a church standard background check. First Aid Certification. Child CPR Certification / Training
Physical Requirements
Position requires ability to lift, hold, and carry up to 45 pounds for short distances. Some mobility is also required for duties such as monitoring children in one room and/or on a playground. Position also requires occasional work at a computer keyboard (typing, processing).
