Become certified in CPR/AED, First Aid, and learn life-saving skills to stop the bleed and save a life. Tomball ISD is offering American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR certification for child and adult in conjunction with Stop the Bleed training for members of our community.
The American Heart Association does not mandate a minimum age requirement for learning CPR. The ability to perform CPR is based more on body strength than age. Studies have shown that children as young as nine years old can learn and retain CPR skills. Your child will need to pass all the skills needed for certification. If you feel that your child has the strength to complete the skills successfully for certification, then it can be appropriate for him/her to attend the class. Students attending the class MUST be accompanied by an adult.
Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Training will include recognition of life threatening bleeding and appropriate steps to control bleeding until help arrives.
Please note, if students attend the May class, their absence from school will not be excused by attending the CPR class.
