- Chair
- 1st Vice Chair
- 2nd Vice Chair
- 3rd Vice Chair
- Secretary
- Treasurer*
- Nine State Executive Committee (SEC) positions
You must be a registered Democrat in Union County. Officers and SEC members are elected for a two year term, April 2025-March 2027. Please note that these non-paid volunteer positions require a significant time commitment as well as experience within the Democratic Party.
Completing this form is not a nomination for the position and does not obligate you to run for the office. This is an interest form and we will work with you to answer questions you may have about county chairs or SEC members.
Duties of the county officers can be found in the North Carolina Democratic Party Plan of Organization found here: North Carolina Democratic Party Plan of Organization in Section 2.05 (p.25). The responsibilities for the State Executive Committee can be found under section 4.01 (p. 46).
Brief Description of Chair Duties:
1. Preside at county executive committee meetings and conventions (note: county executive committee consists of all county chairs, precinct chairs and vice chairs, chairs of affiliated organizations and elected officials in Union County).
2. Draft and execute strategic plans
3. Managing precincts
4. Setting date and time for meetings
5. Appoint committees as necessary (Examples - fundraising committee, get out the vote committee, events committee, etc.)
6. Support Affiliated Organizations (Example - Senior Dems of Union County, Democratic Women of Union County, etc.)
7. Represent the county
8. Conduit between the North Carolina Democratic Party and the county
9. In consultation with the elected officers; Appoint a Treasurer
First Vice Chair:
1. Preside at county executive committee meetings and county conventions in the absence of the chair
2. Plan and organize county executive committee meetings and county conventions
3. Notify precinct chairs as to the number of votes that each precinct is entitled to cast at the county executive committee and the county convention
4. Serve as the coordinator for all precinct and party organizing efforts within the county, in consultation with the other officers and consistent with the strategic plan approved by the county executive committee
5. Attend meetings of the district executive committee
6. Carry out other duties as may be assigned by the county executive committee
Second Vice Chair:
1. Plan and organize training sessions for county executive committee members and other interested active Democrats
2. Carry out other duties as may be assigned by the county executive committee
Third Vice Chair:
1. Serve as the publicity chair for the county executive committee utilizing digital media, newsletters, etc. to illuminate policy issues and announce political activities and/or accomplishments to voters in the county;
2. Carry out other duties as may be assigned by the county executive committee
Secretary:
1. Keep and maintain in good order all records of the county executive committee meetings
