ISSUE 1: NEO FUTURE
The first issue focuses on Cyberpunk stories and is a spiritual sequel to our last anthology book, NEO-TOKYO 2019.

The genre of Cymberpunk is a Speculative Fiction genre centered around the transformative effects of advanced science, information technology, computers and networks ("cyber") coupled with a breakdown or radical change in the social order ("punk"). A genre that is dark and cynical in tone, it borrows elements from Film Noir and postmodern deconstruction to describe the Dystopian side of an electronic society.

Much of Cyberpunk includes tropes such as evil mega corporations, mafia-like organisations (like the Yakuza), anti-heroes and hackers plus Asian-sounding advertisements, consumer products, brand-names and anime influences. Also note the scientific philosophy of transhumanism, with Artificial Limbs and cable jacks in the skull that allow access to artificial realities. Artificial intelligences and artificial humans (sometimes corrupted) are everywhere. This leads to a theme of "loss of distinction between real and artificial" on which philosophical and existential conflicts about transhumanism can arise, such as questions on the nature of identity and "What Measure Is a Non-Human?"

Key examples of the Cyberpunk genre include Neuromancer, AKIRA, Battle Angel Alita, Bubblegum Crisis, Ghost in the Shell, Psycho-Pass, Killtopia, Bladerunner, The Matrix, Robocop and many more.

ISSUE 2: ARCANA DAWN
This issue focuses on stories in the Science-Fantasy genre, a subgenre under the umbrella of speculative fiction that draws on tropes and concepts of both science fiction AND fantasy. Expect to see a lot of classic fantasy tropes (e.g. warriors with swords, dragons, wizards, castles, and elves) and a lot of standard Science Fiction tropes (e.g. spaceships, aliens, lasers, scientists, robots, and Time Travel).

Want a shonen-style battle manga? No problem. Want to create a pining romance? Go for it! Just give it that techno-magic razzle-dazzle. As long as the overall story includes elements of fantasy and science-fiction, the individual genre is up to you.

Key examples of Science-Fantasy include Star Wars, Dune, Dragonball, Escaflowne, Outlaw Star, Saga, The Dark Tower and many, many more.
