GENERAL MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT
Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre (FLOT) is committed to providing a safe and welcoming
environment regardless of age, race or ethnicity, gender identity or
expression, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, or any other such
characteristics. All members and participants shall be equally welcomed to the
FLOT community. All members, volunteers, participants, and patrons are expected
to conduct themselves in accordance with this sentiment when engaging with or
representing FLOT.
Any artist, employee, Board member, sponsor, participant, student, volunteer, and
audience member should be aware that the following activities are strictly
prohibited and incompatible with FLOT’s standards:
- Any conduct that may endanger the life, safety, health, well-being, or property of any participant connected to FLOT.
- Actual or threatened acts of violence, including bullying or harassment (whether verbal, physical, or digital).
- Sexual harassment of any kind. This includes verbal and nonverbal conduct, unwanted physical touch or advances, and suggestive or offensive remarks.
- Abusive or offensive language toward or in the proximity of any patron or participant of FLOT.
- Any conduct on or beyond the properties and venues of FLOT sanctioned activities that could interfere with one's ability to fulfill an obligation to FLOT. This includes attendance of a rehearsal or performance under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Failure to follow any of FLOT’s policies, procedures, or expectations established by FLOT leadership. This includes disrespectful behavior towards said leadership.
Board members, directors, instructors, and any other persons in leadership positions
in association with FLOT are responsible for taking immediate action to report
any observation or allegations of such prohibited activities to the Executive
Board.Any participant who violates this code is subject to disciplinary action, up to and
including temporary probation or removal or barring from future involvement in
activities, functions, productions, and events connected to FLOT. Each member
is responsible for an individual awareness and understanding of the content of
this code and is expected to uphold the values and standards expressed herein.
If you are uncertain about any of these values, standards, and expectations or
are concerned about whether they are being met, you are asked to seek a member
of FLOT’s Executive Board for clarification. Should you become aware of any
potential violation of the elements of this General Member Code of Conduct, you
are asked to please report them to a member of FLOT’s Executive Board.
