Direct Contemplative Experience of Duties of the Heart
A Series of Six Online Sessions
With Rabbi Meir Sendor
Tuesdays, April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 8 PM Israel Time
All Mitzvot of the Torah are important, but the mitzvot designated “duties of the heart” are essential and constantly in force, “the foundations of all the Mitzvot (Rabbenu Bahya Ibn Pakudah, Duties of the Heart, introduction).” Fulfilling them in a way that is real and true is not easy, however. They depend on the heart, that is, heart consciousness, the deep and expansive aspect of our consciousness, and they require not just fleeting external acknowledgement but a full and transformative experience. We will engage in meditation practices designed to help us enter states of awareness that facilitate expansive heart consciousness, to fulfill three of these Mitzvot through direct experience, beyond imaginary ideas and verbal concepts.
This series has six sessions. The first and second are devoted to the Mitzvah “to know there is God.” The third and fourth are devoted to the Mitzvah “to affirm the oneness of God.” The fifth and sixth sessions are devoted to the mitzvah “to love God.” All sessions will be held online, through the video conferencing network Zoom. The link will be sent when you subscribe.
