CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES
In Person Speakers Bureau Support
- Driving the speaker to the school they are presenting at (or meeting them there) and assisting the speaker and teacher to ensure the presentation goes smoothly. We liaise directly with teachers so that they know what to expect and how to prepare for a speaker, but being an extra hand is always appreciated (and, for teachers who are new to welcoming speakers to their school, often needed!).
- Most speakers know what to expect and are adept at asking for anything they need (water, a chair to sit in while they present, etc.) but sometimes, the finer details get looked over - ensuring the speaker’s PowerPoint is playing through PowerPoint and not Google Slides, their microphone is clipped on correctly/at an acceptable volume, and the volume on the projector speakers is on so that the PowerPoint can be heard, and similar flourishes.
- In person driving support would primarily be for a particular speaker who doesn’t drive anymore, and for speakers going to schools that haven’t had speakers before (rather than for every speaking engagement). This would be a few times a month in the spring, weekday mornings generally anywhere from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
Virtual Speaker Bureau Support
- Speakers know their PowerPoint presentations well, but sometimes prefer to have a volunteer screenshare their slides when presenting virtually on Zoom. The speaker then presents on Zoom and will indicate when you will advance the PowerPoint slides from your screen.
- This can be done from home - the speaker will also be home presenting from their computer. Presentations are 45 minutes to an hour, so this would take about 75 minutes total, as you’d log on about 15 minutes early to check in with the speaker, share your screen, etc. before the presentation begins.
- Virtual presentations aren’t too common, but I’d estimate we have a few a month during the springtime. They usually take place weekday mornings before noon.
