Concerns about helicopters
In the last few years, helicopter-related noise complaints have skyrocketed, going from 10,359 complaints filed with 311 in 2020, to 25,821 in 2021. These complaints have gone up over 2300% in the last five years.

21,620 of the complaints filed in 2021 came from Manhattan, illustrating a disproportionate impact. Helicopter noise penetrates every corner of the island, and Council Member Brewer is firmly committed to ending non-essential helicopter tour flights and addressing the rise in charter flights.

Council Member Brewer has been a leader on reducing non-essential flights over the city and has multiple pieces of legislation proposed to address this growing issue.

Council Member Brewer encourages everyone to download the mobile application “FlightRadar24” to get more information on helicopters in the area, and to report to 311. Please click this link to see a compilation of news articles on the topic: https://bit.ly/3ky8DSc
