Tryouts will be held on April 19, 20, and 21. Cuts will be made and invitations will be sent out to those making it to the next round on the night of April 19th. Our plan is to have 3 middle school teams and 3 high school teams, one high school team being a BOYS team. This will all depend on numbers.
Middle School girls (current 5th-7th graders) will tryout from 4:00-5:30pm April 19th. Cuts will be made and invitations sent out to attend on April 20th. If a 3rd day is needed, another email will be sent out to attend on Friday. My plan is for MS tryouts to be completed by Thursday, April 20th.
High School females (current 8th-11th graders) and males (current 5th-11th graders), your tryouts will be held from 6-8pm. Cuts will be made and invitations sent out to attend on April 20th and 21st for the next round.
**NEW NEXT SEASON** We are excited to announce that LPS will offer a BOYS volleyball team. They will register as a high school team but middle school male players are allowed to tryout and play. They will be playing on the boys high school net against high school players.
Please fill out this form for each female and male athlete that will be trying out for the 2023 volleyball season.
Please come with a completed physical (or have it uploaded in RankOne), water bottle, athletic shorts (spandex is not required), athletic top, court shoes, and kneepads (I have extra kneepads that can be borrowed if needed or new to the sport).
Parents, provide an email address that will be used to check for your athlete's invitation to the next round of tryouts, I would hate for someone to miss their invite.
Please note:
1. A current physical will need to be on file BEFORE the athlete will be allowed to try out if they are in 5th grade or above to LPS athletics. Physicals are valid for one calendar year so if your athlete got one last summer, it is still valid. If you are a returning player, you can look in RankOne for dates. If not, you can inquire with myself or Coach Blankenship.
2. For players in 8th-11th grade (all incoming high school players), summer training will be mandatory. It will be held in the mornings (Mon-Thurs) and will consist of strength, agility, flexibility, and jump training. There is a fee and it will start in July. It will only be in July due to our gym floor being replaced (YAY) Scholarships are available, please let me know if there is a need.
3. Team camps for the girls will be held for team members the 1st week of August. This is for all teams (MS and HS) and is mandatory. Boys camp is TBD but will be held in August.
4. We will have a parent meeting in May after tryouts. I will coordinate a date that will work for most and let you know when that will be with the welcome email.
5. Tryouts are closed to parents and other students not trying out. You may come in and make sure they have all of their documents and wish them luck but then leave the gym area. MS players need to be picked up promptly at 5:30pm so that HS can get ready.
6. Those trying out for HS may stay after school but will only be allowed in designated areas until 5:30 when they can enter and start warming up on the side area to start at 6pm. HS players needs to be picked up promptly at 8pm so coaches can start talking about selections so emails can be sent as early as possible
7. There is a $100 athletic fee for this sport and will need to be paid by Sept 1, 2023.
