Description:
Come create a bag to showcase your style! You will use a variety of techniques to construct the bag pieces (front, back, and flap) including strip piecing and some very intuitive design. Pattern and directions for constructing your bag will be provided during the class. Finished bag will be approximately 5x8.

What Techniques Will You Be Using?
Rulerless cutting and piecing
Intuitive design
Narrow-Insert Piecing
Intuitive Angle Piecing
Straight-Line Insert
Pieced Strips

Supplies Provided:
2 strips of buckram for bottom of bag (1 1/2 inches x 6 inches each)
Black elastic for front closure
Construction steps handout
Freezer paper to draw pattern

Supplies YOU Bring:
1-Fabric for main body of bag (9x6 unfinished)
2-Large variety of fabric scraps to complement main fabric choice.
3-Fabric for lining interior of bag and front flap (about 3/4 yard)
4-Fabric for strap (3 inches x 59 inces)
NOTE: It is difficult to judge how much fabric you will need. I start with about 1/2 yard of fabric in main color choice. This fabric can be denim, heavy linen, or regular quilting cotton. For the most part, I use fabrics that are solid or that read solid. Exceptions might include stripes or dotted fabrics.
5-Fusible interfacing, about 3/4-1 yard  (Pellon SF 101 or comparable fusible interfacing recommended) You will use this to interface front flap, back, and front of bag, and bag strap)
6-Button for front, hand needle and thread for sewing on button
7-Thread for quilting
8-Batting or fusible fleece (You will use on front flap, back and front of bag)
9-Sewing machine in good working order + usual sewing supplies
10-Walking foot or free motion foot (optional)
11-rotary cutter, small cutting mat
12-travel iron, small ironing mat (optional but helpful)
13-Pen/Pencil and ruler to draw bag pattern + paper scissors
