Thank you for wanting to become a volunteer Land Steward leader for Austin Water's Water Quality Protection Lands Program! Land Steward leaders play a critical role in helping us achieve land management goals to establish resilient grasslands that improve water quality and quantity in the Barton Springs recharge zone, while providing opportunities for the public to learn and support local conservation efforts. Land Steward leaders commit to co-leading 6 events each year, with support from staff and fellow Land Stewards. In addition to completing this application, guides will need to complete an orientation and a first aid/CPR certification training that we provide, if you aren't already certified. Questions? Briefly describe why you would like to help lead volunteer events on the Water Quality Protection Lands. *

Volunteer event locations require individuals to be physically able to hike off trail over rough terrain while exposed to outdoor weather conditions and being responsible for event participants. As a Land Steward, are you able to physically hike and be responsible for others under these conditions? *

Describe any special knowledge, skills, or experience you possess that might aid your ability to be a Land Steward (eg., grassland restoration experience, plant identification skills, leadership skills, interest in learning new skills, etc.) *

Following a training, you will be asked to co-lead 6 volunteer events over the course of a year, with support from staff and fellow Land Stewards. Each volunteer event is a time commitment of about 2.5-3.5 hours, not including travel to and from the site. Will you be able to meet these requirements? *
