Friends of Indian Lake Peninsula
Excellence Category: Global Leadership

Description: Friends of Indian Lake Peninsula is a private, non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation founded in February of 2018 by concerned citizens of Hendersonville, Tennessee, who wish to preserve the natural beauty of the city. Their mission is to conserve land throughout the city and create greenspace and park land for the benefit of all the residents.  They are currently working to preserve what is known as “Batey Farm”, two tracts of 73 acres (the “Farm” and the “Hill”) that were up for sale on the Indian Lake Peninsula at Indian Lake Road and East Drive, with the hope of maintaining it as a passive, open-space park, and preserving a natural environment with public access forever.

The current intern will help coordinate a fall event that will be held at the future park. Interns will be involved in event planning, and should have good leadership skills, be very organized, and out going. Basic skills include being familiar with outlook and Google. The intern should be comfortable with phone conversations and meetings and not afraid to ask questions. Some event planning skills are a plus but are not required.

Attire: No special attire

Schedule:  Flexible but most likely 2 days each week.  Some work may be done at JPII. The intern will need to be available on the day of the event which will be either November 2nd or 9th.
