As you know BayAreaChess makes decisions based on the chess community's needs and desires. Please share your thoughts on rated online tournaments with real ratings and prizes. We'll thank you for helping us stay true to our values by emailing you a pre-invite to these events before the public announcement (and also take your counsel on finer details).

*Why?*
We are planning rated tournaments with prizes to motivate players to learn and grow. We will make sections of players with similar ratings to give everyone a fair chance. We will promote fair play and mitigate sandbagging (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheating_in_chess#Sandbagging). We will do our best to address the concerns of parents about cheating and online rating manipulation.
