AUDIENCE MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT

I am really curious about “audience”, both the word and it’s meaning. Merriam Webster says that an audience is a group of listeners or spectators, a reading, viewing, or listening public, or a group of ardent admirers or devotees; a formal hearing or interview; an opportunity of being heard; or the act or state of hearing.

As a maker, I am often asked by gatekeepers “Who do you want in the audience?”
I’m so scared to admit that maybe I don’t know. I think I know. I have a lot of pat answers that feel true but deep in my gut I don’t know.

That is the purpose of this part of the 1st and the 15th.  I want to investigate the process of making an audience. To do this I will pose a set of questions to you. You will answer them as best as possible. Then a selection of people who answer the survey will get chosen to see the work. Persons who fit the parameters of the work will be charged a small fee based on their survey answers.
