The OWL Book Talk is designed to present opportunities for educators across our districts to read professional books and engage in conversations about them. Teaching can be a very isolating activity unless we make concerted efforts to connect, converse, and collaborate with our colleagues. Our new Book Talk will provide such opportunities.

An OWL Book Talk will consist of a minimum of 5 and maximum of 20 participants. All consortium districts are invited. Participant fee of $15. The OWL Book Talk results in 5 hours towards an in-service credit.

Each participant must

obtain a copy of the book
read the book in increments
attend five one hour meetings over the course of the study, which will span about 10 weeks
engage in discussion guided by the facilitator (Jen Freedman)
create and submit an final action plan showing how he/she will use some aspect of the book in their classroom or building
fill out an evaluation form to provide feedback to the Center and the facilitator

All book study meetings are held remotely.

If a meeting is missed, there will be a Choice Board of activities from which to choose for a make-up assignment. If more than one meeting is missed, CTLE hours will be denied.
