How easy is it for you to talk about money?
*
I'd rather have a colonoscopy, a mammogram, and give birth without pain meds in the same day than talk about money.
I'd rather sit at the DMV for 4 hours, but I will talk about money if I have to.
I know it's important to understand and prioritize, so I'm willing to talk about it.
I LOVE talking about all aspects of money -- budgeting, saving, investing, giving. It's my jam!

What did your parents teach you about money?
*
They never, ever talked about money. It was a taboo subject at our house.
They were always fighting about money. I grew up assuming money would always be a stressful thing.
They used money as a way to try to win our favor -- with lavish gifts, presents, experiences -- but then they'd be stressed because they overspent.
They worked really hard to try to make ends meet but didn't seem to have time to teach me much about money.
They tried to teach me a little bit, but it felt like they didn't know what they were doing.
They were really wise with their money and taught me from an early age the value of spending less than you make and saving for a rainy day.
They taught me that money is a tool and not only modeled wise spending and saving habits, but also taught me how to invest and the importance of giving.

Your answer
When people say the word "budget" or talk about budgeting, what feeling does that conjure up for you?
*
I immediately want to leave the conversation and check out -- no thank you, budgeting is not for me!
I'm slightly interested in the idea, but it also scares me to consider because the idea of a budget sounds restrictive.
I'm just not the kind of person who would do a budget, but I don't have a problem with other people having one.
I really would like to try budgeting, but I don't know how to get started and don't think I could stick with it.
I am afraid that trying to set up a budget would just make me feel more discouraged about our finances.
I feel frustrated because I've tried budgeting before and it didn't work for me.
I wish my spouse would be open to the idea of having a budget.
I like the idea of budgeting, but what's the point when I already know I don't make nearly enough money to cover all my expenses?
I feel grateful because budgeting has been such a help to our family and we wouldn't be in the financial place we are without one.
