Course of Study Petition Submission Form
Use this form to submit your Course of Study Petition to the Committee on Degrees. As outlined in the Doctoral Student Handbook, the Course of Study Petition is an outline of the your anticipated program of study. It allows you to propose your Area, faculty advisor(s), languages of study you will use to fulfill the language requirements (both modern research languages and Area specific languages), comprehensive exams, teaching mentor, teaching plan, and an outline of your pedagogical and professional development plan. At the end of this form, you will be prompted to submit your Course of Study Petition statement, an approximately 1,000 word statement that discusses the work you intend to do in the doctoral program through the Qualifying Examination stage. Please see the Doctoral Student Handbook for the full requirements of the Course of Study Petition statement.

Your petition will be sent to your advisor and examiners for review and approval. Once they approve your petition, it will be sent to the Committee on Degrees for review. You will receive an email notification from the Dean of Students or Director of Doctoral Studies after the Committee on Degrees has made a determination on your proposal.
