About HUMANE TEEN CLUB
Humane Teen Club is a youth development program that provides opportunities for teens to explore issues in animal welfare, build leadership and public speaking skills, and make some new friends (furry ones, too). This program prepares teens to become responsible representatives of Seattle Humane and its mission, and is the only pathway to becoming a volunteer before your 18th birthday. The program runs September through May each year on select Saturday mornings.
Application requirements
    • Be between the ages of 13 and 17 as of September 2019.
    • Demonstrate interest in animal welfare, animal companionship and volunteerism.
    • Show a positive, respectful attitude toward peers, staff, volunteers and animals.
    • Be able to work well independently and in groups.
    • Be willing to commit to attending HTC meetings, as well as completing club assignments and a service project.
    • Submit a complete program application, which includes a letter of recommendation from a school or community program leader.
  • Attend one HTC informational session with a parent or guardian

Application Steps
To start the application process, teens should fully complete the form below, including responses to the short essay questions.  In addition, teens must:

    • Submit one letter of recommendation from a school or community program leader by the application deadline.
    • Attend (with a parent or legal guardian) one HTC informational session at our shelter location (13212 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, 98005).
       o   Informational Session option 1: Friday, July 12th at 5pm
       o   Informational Session option 2: Saturday, August 3rd at 10am

Teens will be evaluated on the completeness and thoughtfulness of their application responses, a brief one-on-one meeting with an HTC facilitator during the informational session, and their letter of recommendation.

To be considered, teens must have attended one informational session, and submitted their application and letter of recommendation by August 18th at 12pm.  Acceptance notices will be emailed to teens by September 6th.
