Youth Confirmation 2023
Hello! The Rev. Rebecca Ogus, Associate for Youth and Young Adults, here. We are so glad you are interested in joining us for Youth Confirmation this year! We will meet every Wednesday in Lent from 6-7:30 pm (March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and April 1). We will cook a simple meal together and share it over the course of each meeting.

Confirmands should plan to:
- attend class on Wednesday evenings in Lent
- acolyte and read during church (sign ups to follow)
- join J2A on Sunday mornings (when not serving as acolyte or reader) starting on last Epiphany and running through last Easter (Feb 19-May 21)
- hopefully worship with another community and participate in service as a group (details still in the works)
- gather with families for a pre-Confirmation celebration dinner in May!

Two important notes before filling out this form:

1) You should be 15 or turning 15 in the next year to participate in Youth Confirmation. As per the Diocese of Maryland's Confirmation Guidelines, "Each candidate [for Confirmation] should be of such maturity as to be able to make meaningful vows." If you are under 15 and feel like this is the year for you, please let me know. I'd love to talk to you about it!

2) Part of our Confirmation program is active participation in liturgical roles and attending youth formation, in addition to Confirmation class. This helps bring the material that we cover during class to life. Families, this is an invitation for you, too! You're an important part of your confirmand's faith life and we want to welcome you into this process. Going to church together, talking about your beliefs, what you hear and read regarding Christianity -- these are all great ways to keep the conversation going.

Confirmation will take place on June 11 at 3 pm at the Cathedral of the Incarnation.
