Thank you for signing up for our new Course for Beginners! It will be lots of happy learning together!
Just like our love for Swing Dance, Lindy MAD Hanoi is getting stronger and stronger, expanding the community little by little, and we welcome you to be a part of it!
๐Who is the Course for?
๐ Complete newbies to dance in general
๐ Anyone interested in learning a new skill and exploring leading/following
๐ Dancers who want to try out a new dance
๐ Lindy Hop dancers who need to refresh their basics
๐What will you learn?
You will learn the fundamentals of Lindy Hop for you to be able to dance to Swing Dance music in a social dance (6 counts and 8 count moves; essentials of rhythm, musicality, connection with partner). At the end of the course you may have got into it so much that you feel ready to step up your dance vocabulary with more complex moves - you will be able to do this in our progressive course for Improvers that follows this basic course. You will learn from passionate dance instructors who have put their effort and expertise into building an effective and pleasant learning experience for their students through research, training and feedback.
๐What else is in the offer?
Aside from classes and workshops, we organize events such as social dances - occasions to meet and learn from other dancers, practice and enjoy in a nice, fun context. Before social dance we often have a free Taster Class so even your friends and family can join. You will become part of a lively, supportive community to the extent that you feel comfortable with. Swing also provides a moderate to intense cardio workout - it can have you burning 300- 550 calories/hour. Happy vibrations for the soul are also guaranteed by the music, interactions and physical moves!
๐What gear is recommended? Flat shoes, or shoes with short heel, and comfy clothes :)
๐About the Instructors - Vu&Fi
We are a Hanoian and an Italian who "danced" into each other on the dance floor in Hanoi. Driven by the same burning passion for Swing Dance, we enjoy spreading it by dancing socially and sharing it with others. As dance partners, we regularly practice, go to social dances, upgrade our skills through classes and workshops in Hanoi, in Vietnam and abroad whenever possible (most recently in Herrang Dance Camp and Swing Time Ball Teachers' Track). We love experimenting and keeping an open mind while firmly recognizing the importance of good basics and knowledge of the roots, both in dancing and teaching. We particularly value the positive experience of our students and encourage questions, feedback and ideas at any point. Follow our Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/lindymadhanoi/๐What is Swing Dance?
Swing Dance is a broad term to describe a variety of partner dances evolving from the 1920s to the present day. It was originally danced to a new jazz sound born in New York and hitting a peak during the "Big Band" era. Lindy Hop developed from dancers mimicking other dance crazes of the time, including the Charleston. In 1927, pilot Charles Lindbergh made history by โhoppingโ over the Atlantic. Myth has it that one of the influential dancers of this time described his dance as the "Lindy hop" inspired by Lindberghโs achievement. For more information and inspiration:
