Cortex family - Parent Recruitment
The concept of college families as a support system to aid the transition into university life is viewed as a crucial integration strategy of first year students at many Oxford colleges. Supporting this notion, we have decided to create Cortex Club families – utilizing a shared passion for neuroscience to pair more senior neuroscientists (PhD level, post-docs, research assistants, postgrads) with undergraduate or postgraduate students. This program provides opportunities for mentoring, or being mentored, to all those interested in neuroscience, as well as creating a platform for networking. Apart from establishing an enjoyable atmosphere to discuss ideas and share enthusiasm for your specific field of interest, we have put in place additional measures to increase diversity, providing the option for under-represented minorities to be placed into families with other members of the same marginalized groups.

Are you interested in being part of a 'Cortex family' as a parent of a more junior student interested in neuroscience? *
Which branch of neuroscience are you most involved/interested in? *
Which overall academic stage are you currently in? *
Please note, we will not match you with 'children' from a more senior stage. I.e. a final year undergrad could parent a first year undergrad, but not a masters student. Similarly a first year PhD student could parent a masters student or undergrad, but not another first year PhD student.
If you indicated above that you are on a course/programme with multiple years, what year are you in?
As above, this is to ensure we do not match you with children from a more senior stage.
Do you identify as an under-represented minority? (e.g. ethnic minority/disabled/trans) *
If you do identify as a URM, would you be open to being matched with others from a similar background?
If you have any questions, comments or concerns about any aspect of this, please feel free to get in touch with any of the diversity and outreach officers. Contact details can be found at: https://www.cortexclub.com/present-committee
