INTRODUCTION: Welcome to our final lesson in our "Together in Jesus First Reconciliation" sacramental prep program. You have done a fabulous job of getting ready to receive this sacrament. Just a few more items to go before we wrap up all your work on this program!
TOGETHER IN JESUS: FIRST RECONCILIATION:  Our last lesson in our "Together in Jesus" program is an introduction to your first reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In this lesson, you will be making a book to learn about parts of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is structured in the form of a prayer service however; it is not the actual celebration of the sacrament. Rather it is a prayer service that will help you to prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This lesson requires the help of your mom or dad or both. Once you are all gathered start by cutting pages 3 and 4 of the lesson away from pages 1 and 2. When you have done that fold the book along the dotted line and then write your name on the cover in the space provided. Assign someone to read the role of "Leader" and your will take the "Children" part. You will all do the "All" parts. Read through the prayer service carefully stopping at points where you need to add a sticker or draw a picture. When you are done with the Prayer Service a good way to end it would be to read the last Prayer Ritual "Family Reconciliation Prayer." When you are done you can go ahead and attach your last Lesson 6 sticker in place. Great job!!

RECONCILIATION IS A CELEBRATION: Super great job!  I want you to remember that "Reconciliation is a Celebration." It is a celebration of God's power to make all things new for us!! The name, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, emphasizes God's power to heal and mend. This sacrament is also called Confession which stresses the importance of acknowledging our sins. It can also be called the sacrament of Penance as it stresses the importance of making wrongs right, making up for the hurts or losses we caused. We call the sacrament "Reconciliation" because its ultimate purpose is bringing us back into the community of disciples when we have sinned. As you learned in your lessons, peace was Jesus' gift to his followers on Easter evening. It is also our gift in the priests power to absolve us of our sins. Jesus' gift of peace calls us to become peacemakers who forgive others as we have been forgiven. Something we should celebrate.
