Use this form to register for the Zoom class -- Read & Discuss: Best American Short Stories 2023 taught by Kayleigh Shoen (me), meeting online for 8 Fridays from Jan 19 - Mar 15 (no class Feb 23).

Class Description: The Best American Short Stories series has aimed to anthologize the best short fiction published in North America every year since 1915. We’ll read the 2023 anthology, guest edited by Min Jin Lee. Each week we’ll discuss topics including: What perspectives are reflected in this collection and who is missing? What makes a short story “American”? How do these stories build on and/or reject the literature that came before? How do these stories reflect the year 2023?"

Submitting this form holds a spot for you in class. Students will be admitted in the order they sign up, until the class reaches the 12 student max. No payment is due until the class reaches the minimum enrollment of 6 students. 

Once enough students have signed up, I'll send you an email with instructions for payment. If you would like to sign up as a pair, be sure to include the second person's contact information so I can send you both the zoom link and other class info. Note: pairs do not have to log in on the same computer screen.

For this class, we'll be discussing stories from Best American Short Stories 2023, published by Harper Collins and edited by Min Jin Lee and Heidi Pitlor. The book is available on Bookshop.org, Amazon, and in most bookstores.
