Food Memory Box for Dear Bread

Below are a series of prompts. Please choose one or two that really strike you, and explore your memories. You don't even have to fill out the form, just grab the prompts and put them in a notebook, and write about them when you can.

Thank you for your interest.

Think of a food you enjoy and how it smells. Where were you when you first ate this dish? Can you describe it? Could you make a list of the sight, sounds, smells, people and things around you?

Think of watching someone cook. Shopping, washing vegetables, sautéing, etc. – can you see hands at work? Bring us there.

Think of preparing a meal for yourself or someone else. What’s on the counter? What’s on the stove? What’s in your thoughts?
Describe an average meal at home when you were growing up. Who served the food? What condiments were on the table? What time of day was it?

Think of a meal you had, recently or long ago. Describe the place and who is in the room. What is on your plate? What was the place setting like? What do you most remember?

How do you eat your bread—buttered, peanut buttered, toasted, as a sandwich? Gluten free? Sourdough? Pita? Other? Does your bread resemble the kind of bread you ate growing up?
Describe a birthday and the dessert you had. Who is singing and blowing out the candles?
Optional -- please leave your name and email if you'd like to record your food memory for a podcast.
