Our school is proud to celebrate our diverse community with
our second annual WMS Diversity Night! This evening will be a showcase
of the many different cultures, traditions, identities, and backgrounds that
make our school such a unique and wonderful place. We believe that diversity is
a strength, and that everyone has something valuable to contribute to our
shared human experience. Clubs, student groups, families, and individuals are
all encouraged to sign up to host a table, an experience, or a learning event.
Participants are encouraged to share cultural performances
or activities, provide samples of favorite foods, or show their pride in other
ways. Ideas could include: teaching a few phrases of another language, a henna
station, a table showing off your club, or resources for learning more about
other unique identities. For example, participants who create a table
celebrating the culture of Brazil could collect recommendations for local
restaurants and events, share a dance or playlist, share food, and/or teach
conversational Portuguese phrases. A table created to celebrate neurodivergence
could share recommendations of books or movies to learn more, and could share
resources for getting involved with advocacy.
