Nuestras Voces Film Screening
Fresh from a sell-out audience at this year's Spanish Film Festival, join us Tuesday evening for a very special screening of the award-winning Nuestras Voces (Our Voices) documentary exploring the life experiences of Australia's Spanish-speaking communities' members who arrived in Melbourne between the 1960s & 1980s.

"A powerful reflection on the strength and resilience of immigrants"

Film screening kindly hosted by Dr. Edward Tello where he is joined by special guest Cristina Abela, Co-Director & Co-Founder of Latin Stories Australia and Diana Paez Film Director of Nuestras Voces to have a conversation on migration and adaptation to a new country and culture.

The 'Nuestras Voces' project was funded by the Victorian Government with the aim of increasing understanding of the migrant and refugee experiences, through the eyes of the Spanish-speaking communities' members who arrived in Melbourne between 1960s and 1980s. This project is centered on social harmony and connection. It explores migrant and refugee settlement themes such as: settlement challenges, the refugee voice, multiculturalism, and the transformational experience of education and opportunities for migrants and the experience of the seniors. The aim of this project is to increase engagement between different generations, increase participation of senior groups, develop a narrative of our history, and increase understanding of barriers to accessibility and participation in wellbeing services.
