Solace: Comforting Others with the Comfort We've Received [Workshop Series]
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too." 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Anxiety. Depression. Trauma/Abuse. This three-part series will cover each of these difficult, yet very real and present topics. Whether you have a loved one suffering from a mental illness, you yourself are struggling, or you simply want to educate yourself to have better understanding (and therefore have more empathy and compassion for others), this workshop series will provide encouragement, clear strategies, and biblical wisdom for all attendees.

Join us for part of the series, or all three sessions: Anxiety - November 9, Depression - January 11, Trauma/Abuse - March 15.  All three will be held 6:30-8:30pm.  Childcare will be available.

November 9 - Anxiety is part of our broken world, and pandemic-related fears and isolation have exacerbated an already widespread struggle.  Fieldstone Counselor Crystal Kershaw will present innovative, practical strategies to overcome anxiety through a biblical framework, using the resources available through faith in Christ.  Clear strategies and biblical wisdom will help attendees understand their fears, interrupt anxiety cycles, grow in the peace of Christ that passes all understanding, and help others who seek to do the same.

January 11 - Depression is no respecter of persons, and comes with a variety of expressions depending on the nature and intensity of it. Fieldstone counselor Ben Barnes will provide a thoughtful overview on how the darkness of depression can be met with Christ-exalting hope. While exploring the various categories of depression, attendees will be guided toward a whole-person approach to care that is based on biblical perspectives, equipping them to walk in wisdom and faith.

March 15 - Oppression, abuse, and trauma reach far wider and deeper in our midst than we would ever like to imagine. With the overwhelming statistics being reported, the Church must have a compassionate and careful approach toward those who have experienced the unspeakable. Fieldstone counselor Melissa Affolter will help attendees consider how they can cultivate safe and meaningful connections with those who have been wounded while also speaking to the dilemmas of justice and forgiveness with biblical clarity.
