AAPI games over lunch RSVP
Come join us for AAPI games and lunch on Saturday, 11/12/22 from 11am to 1pm at Evarts Lounge (School of Nursing, 255 Crittenden Blvd.). This event is open to all graduate students and postdoctoral scholars at U of R and URMC. AAPI food will be there, and we have Mah Jong (Chinese strategic game) and YootNoRi (Korean simple/fun game for even children to play), for you to enjoy after/with the meal. You can bring your spouse and children and RSVP for them, but we will need RSVPs from all members of U of R and URMC for a correct headcount.

Since current postdocs and graduate students will become professors/mentors/supervisors in either academia or industry, us learning about minority cultures like AAPI cultures and talking about cultural differences that affect training can help us become leaders who are more sensitive to minority training, which we may be able to apply to how to treat other minority groups. Games and food are fun ways to get to know one another and cultures. We hope people can learn about AAPI cultures and training through games and talking with one another.

Which status describes you most correctly? This event is for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars only. We are using our budget from GEPA (for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars), and we want this event to be a nice gathering/discussion among graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to talk about graduate school/academia. *

Will you be able to come earlier (10:30am-ish) to help setting it up and/or stay after the event to clean up? This committee is very small, but we have many things to do on the day of the event. Hence the day support will make it go smoothly. Here are things we need people for:
In which school do you work currently? This is to check statistics and possibly quote the number to make a case for events and to request funds for events.
Do you identify yourself as AAPI? This is to check statistics and possibly quote the number to make a case for events and to request funds for events.
If you identify yourself as AAPI, which AAPI sub-culture? As we want to represent diverse AAPI sub-cultures, knowing this information helps. These are top 12 AAPI groups based on Pew Research Center, but please feel free to list any other AAPI sub-cultures.
With which gender do you identify yourself? This is to help us understand and possibly for statistics to organize events and requesting funding.
